You won't find Thomas in church every Sunday. In fact, you're nearly as likely to find him on the golf course, taking a stroll or relaxing with the Sunday paper as occupying a pew at St. Bartholomew's.
Yet, this doesn't mean he has no active faith. Nor does it mean that he is valued less than 100% as a St. Bartholomew's member. When Thomas needs to get back in touch with what he calls "The Mystery," we’re there. And we help in a way he finds uniquely satisfying.
Our Episcopal style of worship allows people like Thomas to talk to God in their own way. We appreciate the beauty of quiet and the deeper meaning of ceremony, in much the same fashion a Roman Catholic church might. Yet there is a contemporary openness and a common touch that makes a person from a Protestant tradition feel very much at home.
Will Thomas ever turn again to the vibrant faith he kept as a young university student? “Someday…” he says with a wink and a nod. “Someday soon.” He can be assured that St. Bartholomew's will be ready and waiting when that day arrives.
